Working meeting was held with Maksym Shylov, Head of Complex Property & Liability Solutions, Baltic States at GrECo Group, Austria and PhD candidate at SGH Warsaw School of Economics. His doctoral research focuses on the application of weather risk transfer tools in the food processing industry. Alongside his academic work, he has extensive professional experience in international risk management and insurance, particularly in the agri-food sector across Central and Eastern Europe.
Following the meeting, Mr. Shylov has prested a lecture titled "A study on the impact of weather on sugar production – a case study from Poland" to the graduate students of "Trade and International Business" and showed how weather conditions affect agricultural output and how these effects translate into economic and financial consequences for the food industry.

Project team member Prof. Dr. Kristina Petljak attended a training on open access policy in publishing. The training was organized by the Ruđer Bošković Institute in Zagreb on 4th and 5th of February 2026.
The public project kick-off took place on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Room 37 at the Faculty of Economics and Business. On that occasion, the project and planned activities for the first project year were presented.

On Friday, May 8th, 2026, a lecture on "Using Artificial Intelligence to Build Resilient Food Supply Chains in the Era of Climate Change" was held for a visiting group of students from Klagenfurt at 9:00 AM, in Room 16 at the Faculty of Economics and Business. The lecturers were Professor Dr. Ivana Štulec and Professor Dr. Kristina Petljak, and several local students were asked to join the lecture as well. The goal of the lecture was to popularize the economic aspect of climate change among the younger generations, to bring the researched issues closer to them in an interesting way and to encourage international cooperation among students and teaching staff.

We are proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Zagreb Faculty of Economics & Business and WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) led by Prof. Dr. Ivana Štulec, PhD, at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Economics & Business, in collaboration with Prof. Gerald Reiner and colleagues from WU Wien. This partnership represents an important step toward strengthening international research collaboration in the fields of food supply chain resilience, climate and weather risk management, and sustainable supply chain practices. We look forward to future joint research activities, scientific publications, academic exchange, and knowledge sharing.

As part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) program "Sustainable Food Chain Management Strategies for the Preserved Fish Sector", students of the Faculty of Economics majoring in Trade and International Business and Retail Management and Marketing, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ivana Štulec and Prof. Dr. Kristina Petljak, participated in the international program jointly organized with the University of Parma and University College Dublin. The program gathered a total of 15 students – five from each partner university – and combined a virtual part and a one-week physical mobility at the University of Parma, Italy.
The program focused on the sustainable management of value chains in the food sector, with a special emphasis on the canned fish sector. Through international teamwork, students solved the specific business challenge of developing a new fish product, analyzing the regulatory framework, structure and organization of the supply chain, sustainability and sustainable accounting, procurement and marketing activities. The program also included field visits to companies, including Rizzoli Emanuelli and Caseificio Parma 2064, allowing students to connect theoretical knowledge with concrete business practices.
In September 2026, the project leader, Prof. Dr. Ivana Štulec, was a guest on the radio show "Climate Challenge" on the second program of Croatian Radio, edited by Mr. János Römer. The show discussed the economic effects of climate change with a special focus on the food supply chain, and presented the IntegFSCM project.
