Project “IntegFSCM” is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 2021–2026 and is financed by European Union funds through the NextGenerationEU instrument.
About the project
Risk is becoming an increasingly frequent area of research in modern supply chain studies. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, increasing supply disruptions – from global pandemics and the climate crisis to cyber threats and geopolitical tensions – combined with an intensifying set of demand-driven disruptions – including the rise of new consumer channels, pent-up demand and the fragmented reopening of the global economy – will continue to destabilize global value chains.
Resilience of food supply chains in conditions of uncertainty is emerging as a priority goal of supply chain management. Resilience of the food supply chain refers to the ability of the supply chain to survive over time, adapt to new conditions and recover from different types of disruptions - whether they are short-term (e.g. extreme weather conditions, logistics disruptions), long-term (climate change, geopolitical crises) or systemic (pandemics, economic crises). Robustness, adaptability and recovery are three key components of a resilient supply chain.
The IntegFSCM project aims to explore the role of weather risk management in strengthening resilience and trust in food supply chains. In the context of climate change and increasingly frequent extreme weather events, food supply chains face increased uncertainty and disruptions that can threaten market stability and food security.
The project is implemented by the Faculty of Economics - University of Zagreb, and the project leader is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivana Štulec. The research is based on an interdisciplinary approach and a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the aim of developing a strategic model for weather risk management in food supply chains.
